The Artist Speaks

Annette Beutin

“As an artist as well as a human being I am constantly on a journey, it is a constant search for new horizons. I confront limits concerning culture, style and content in order to find solutions to go further. Changes incite my imagination and provide a stimulus for new goals.

“I try to reflect in my works a maximum of creative freedom free from all clichés. It is a constant search for a new language within the works based on its unique originality. Feelings and thoughts are directly projected to the metal or canvas.

“My abstract pictures are painted on canvas. I paint mainly with gouache, oil paint, pigments and Indian ink. Brushes, scrapers and my pure hands are my essential tools. Concerning my abstract paintings, the viewer's activity is required in so far as it is completely up to him to decide which way to hang them. Because it does not matter from which side one looks at things or where they are, the thing itself remains always the same but everybody has his individual taste and perception.

“My jewellery is mainly made out of Sterling Silver, sometimes with traces of gold. I like to give gems and pearls a new ‘home’, to create a new environment for them.

“With my works, I hope to call the viewer's attention to the details. In every detail, be it a colour-drop, shape or texture, is some content, as it is in real life. My aim is to transmit the same good feeling to the viewer or wearer as I have when I am working.”
