What our guests say about Broomhill

How to describe? Superlatives are necessary

"How to describe? Superlatives are necessary. An early 20th century home located in a lovely valley a few miles from a typical English market town in Devon, converted into a most comfortable hotel with modern art throughout is just the beginning. The restaurant serves locally sourced food with a Mediterranean taste profile. The menu is appealing and the service attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed each item on our three course attractively-priced prix fixé menu. Soup for starters; lamb for main; a delicious chocolate brownie for dessert. All beautifully presented. But, to our minds, the highlight is the sculpture garden. Spread over many acres next to the stream and up the adjacent hillside are the owners' collection of contemporary art sculptures, all exerting a presence as you wander the many paths. Some surprise as you turn a corner. Others capture your attention from a distance. Virtually all are large, bordering on monumental." — Tandem Cyclist, Trip Advisor July 2017

Fell in love with it straight away

"What can I say about Broomhill Art Hotel. As you arrive down the drive you would feel that you've entered a hidden gem myself and my partner fell in love with it straight away! This was before we booked in: when we did the staff we're very obliging polite and made you feel very welcome. They showed us to our room nothing was too much and yes not a disappointment the executive double room was awesome clean spotless the bed was perfection. We decided to unpack and go and have a drink and sit on the terrace whilst relaxing enjoying the view and glorious afternoon sunshine. Originally we we're going to venture out for an evening meal, but decided to eat at the hotel restaurant and this became perfection I'd never eaten tapas before but again this was not a disappointment it was heaven on a plate! £13.95 per head with dessert it has to be done. Best sleep ever and then came the breakfast I had smoked trout with poached eggs my partner Peter had full English with scrambled eggs wow factor it was. We'd be going back sooner rather than later this is a must for any one to stay. The art work around its grounds must not be missed either." — David O, Trip Advisor July 2017

A beautiful place, serene and incredibly special

"Our friends had bought us a night's stay for two, including three course meal, breakfast and full access to the sculpture gardens. The hotel was amazing, we had a room with a beautiful view over the gardens. Bed was comfy, they had nice little touches with the teas and soaps for the shower. It was very clean, beautifully decorated and there was a nice area for us to sit in the window. The food was beautiful and they used really interesting combinations of ingredients which demonstrates they must take their time and work on their menu with alot of care and passion for cooking. Then the sculpture gardens were a very very wonderful place to be, it was more like walking through a forest than walking through a garden. It was such a beautiful place, serene and incredibly special. We were so lucky we had the chance to go to this. I can't put into words very well the effect it had on us. It was so interesting, thought provoking and beautiful. You will never ever go to another place like Broomhill and it is not worth missing out on. The staff were very attentive, kind and professional. Because we were bought this from our friends, we're going to pass on the gift to someone else and buy them the same thing we were bought, because it's a beautiful experience and I can't imagine a person not being blown away by this place. The gardens were beautifully wild but well kept and the staff should be really proud of themselves for achieving such an incredible place. We were bought this because our friends said "you can't not go to Broomhill" and they were right." — Lydia T — Trip Advisor September 2017

Go on... book it...

"A little hidden gem. We have been going to Barnstaple for over 20 years. I promise I will from now on, only stop here. Gardens amazing. Bedrooms amazing. Staff amazing. Food amazing. Doggy amazing.

"Our two Springer spaniels were allowed everywhere with us, that gives you peace of mind... Great price. Go on... book it..." — Tammy Stagg, Facebook February 2018

A fabulous stay and one we unreservedly recommend

"Nothing prepares you for this gem of a place. Tucked away from the road, in a hidden valley, the tricky drive up the narrow lane is well worth it. From the start you are aware of stunning sculpture all around you. A walk through the gardens is to discover more wonderful pieces - of all sizes and styles. The hotel itself is packed with artworks. And the restaurant could not be faulted. A fabulous stay and one we unreservedly recommend." — Ian Simpson, Facebook July 2017

I look forward to going back

"Had a truly wonderful stay there. The staff were so accommodating as my partner and I celebrated our engagement and my mum had arranged decorations to be put up on our door, in our room and on the table when we dined. The chef sent through a 'gift' from the kitchen which was delicious (all the meals were amazing - beautifully presented and tasted amazing). The staff were so attentive and accommodating and I look forward to going back!

"As for the art and the sculptures, they speak for themselves. I would absolutely recommend." — Lucy Arnold — Google review March 2018
