Enjoy a relaxing and intimate evening eating and absorbing the vibes of one of Britain's best jazz performances.
Set in the enlightening atmosphere of the Broomhill Contemporary Art Gallery with a Mediterranean Tapas buffet from the Broomhill kitchen the ambience is definitely appealing. These events are often sold out well before the event although it's always worth a try for a late cancellation. Booking is essential.
Tickets are limited to ensure that the social and musical ambience is at its best.
Doors open at 19:30, concert begins at 20:00. Interval with food buffet 21:00.

The Jonathan Bratoëff Quartet draws influences from many sides of the jazz world, from Coltrane to Jason Moran via the New York downtown scene. Each musician brings with him great musical variety and adaptability to a band that looks for a truly contemporary sound with a strong emphasis on melody and energy. The key ingredients are simple with powerful melodies, energetic and vibrant rhythms, rich colourful textures and a mixture of traditional jazz blended with other musical idioms such as African, Rock and Latin music.

Relentlessly dodging definition, Led Bib are both a maverick jazz band and an unlikely rock quintet. The Walthamstow based five-piece of twenty-somethings who have torn apart the jazz world with their avant-jazz-euphoric-rock explosions of improvisation, pride themselves on side- stepping convention, with incendiary results. Combining the energy and passion of a rock outfit with the technical ability of trained jazz musicians their effect is exhilarating.

With the grooves drawn from Høiby’s inspiration of rythms and sounds found in African, Cuban, Brazilian, Middle Eastern and Eastern European Folk and tradition muscic, his compositions succeeds in creating original and meditative soundscapes fusing these rhythms with lyrical and atmospheric contributions from the respective members of his different groups.

Since returning to London Høiby has reformed Phronesis with Ivo Neame on Piano and Anton Eger on drums, their music is fresh and exuberant wih strong melodic grooves, inspired by a world heritage of rhythms and sounds. Fresh young and sparkling, urban jazz.
