Broomhill National Sculpture Prize 2010

The competition is open to UK based artists, currently studying (or within 10 years of graduation) an Art related course at a recognised School of Art.

Must be registered by 29 Dec 2009 to be eligible to submit a proposal.

May enter a maximum of one artwork.

Undertakes that the work is of his/her own origination, and that he or she holds all moral and intellectual property rights in that work.

Accepts, by signing the registration form that the proposal and sculpture, if shortlisted, is entered at the artist’s risk. The organisers are not liable for any loss or damage incurred to the pieces either in transit or to and from the exhibition, or during any period of storage, packing or unpacking, or in any period in which the work is in their keeping.

Accepts that the Sculpture submitted will be available for sale in the exhibition and that the Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation will take a commission of 30%.

Accepts that if they are VAT registered, that this will also be included in the price of the work, stated by the artist on the proposal form.

If selected for the exhibition, agrees to the reproduction of their work (at no fee) in association with the exhibition including but not limited to press, publicity, website and catalogue.

The Proposal

The sculpture proposal and the completed submission form must be sent to the following address: Submissions, Broomhill Art Hotel, Muddiford Road, Barnstaple, EX31 4EX.

Full details about submitting your proposal will be emailed to you once registered. We will not accept proposals unless you have registered and paid the registration fee by 29 Dec 09.

All proposals must include a series of hand drawn sketches showing the creative process.

Proposals must be submitted between the dates of 11 and 20 Jan 2010. Entries received after 20 Jan 2010 will be invalid.

If you wish to have proposals returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

You may if you wish submit a maquette, but this is not necessary.

The proposed design must be new or recent: preferably in the last 3 years.

Must be the original work of the artist named on the registration form.

Stage 3 Work

Works shortlisted for Stage 3 must be available from the submitting week in the first week of May 2010 (more precise details to follow in the Stage 3 email to selected artists) until the exhibition end in April 2011 (except the two winning pieces which will remain with the Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation).

The remaining eight pieces will be removed in April 2011 by the artist: each is responsible for removing their own piece and paying for transport costs.
