The Broomhill Art and Sculpture Foundation launched a brand new and unique national sculpture competition last year, set to provide an exciting challenge for new and emerging UK based sculptors.

Claudia Borgna

The judging panel, including internationally renowned sculptors Sandy Brown, Giles Penny and Peter Randall-Page, selected ten finalists in February 2010 to turn their proposed ideas into inspiring, celebrated finished pieces. The final ten sculptures will be unveiled at an outdoor exhibition beginning in June 2010.

Art Exhibition - Mike Woollacott

In the Gallery - Free entry

Throughout June • Wed to Sun • 11:00-15:30

Mike is an artist living in North Devon. The local environment has become a constant source of his inspiration. The Taw Estuary with its bleak winter light and the rural landscape of North Devon with its narrow lanes and hedgerows of majestic oak trees bordering meadows rich in flowers and grasses are a stimulus for Mike’s art.

Art Exhibition - Peter Bright

Art Exhibition - Peter Bright

In the Gallery - Free entry

Throughout June • Wed to Sun • 11:00-15:30

Peter Bright presents ‘Topiary for Beginners’. Creating images is balancing on the knife edge that teeters between success and failure. A brushstroke out of place is like cutting the beak off a privet peacock, it takes time for it to grow back and reshape. Peter revisits his compositional ideas, formed in the late 70’s, to discover how his skills have ‘matured’.
