Fine Victorian house and art collection - a real gem

“We attended a family wedding at this intimate family-run hotel located in extensive gardens and woodland in a North Devon valley just outside Barnstaple and it was a truly memorable occasion. The number of rooms is limited as it is only a small hotel, so we found accommodation at Instow near Barnstaple and came here just for the wedding. The gardens contain a fine collection of modern sculptures, the house is an impressive Victorian building, and the wedding hall next to the main house is decorated in light colours with a kind of Scandinavian feel. The lovingly tended gently sloping gardens provide an ideal setting for photography after the ceremony, enabling the guests to socialise and the younger family members of the family to run around to their hearts’ content. The reception was held in the spacious events room on the ground floor with large round tables set for dinner, and we were then invited to make our own selection from the fine array of dishes that were all beautifully prepared and of the same outstanding quality, as was the wedding cake. After the speeches the scene was set for dancing, that was very enjoyable. • The exclusive use of the house on the day of the wedding from the start of the ceremony. The Sculpture Garden is open to the public until 16:00
• Six guest rooms (B&B) for two nights based on two sharing. Rooms are available the night before and the night of the wedding. If you require rooms on other nights or wish to accommodate a smaller party please ask
• Decorated tables with candles and flowers
• Serving of the wedding cake
• Entrance to the Sculpture Gardens for all of your guests
